Alexis Avila Founder/President of Prepped & Polished discusses Three Qualities that make a Good Tutor.

Tip 1. A good tutor should be experienced.
Tip 2. A good tutor should be enthusiastic.
Tip 3. A good tutor should be perceptive.

When we, at prepped and polished, look for a tutor, we look for many qualities, but we especially look for these three qualities.

Experience

A good tutor should be experienced. Experienced not only with the subject material but experienced tutoring students. See, experience will lead to confidence. A confident tutor will help a student become more confident in the subject material.

Enthusiasm

The second thing a good tutor is enthusiastic. A good tutor can connect well with students and remain upbeat, especially when a student is having difficulty with the subject material.

Perceptive

The third thing a good tutor is perceptive. Now, this is my x-factor, but I think it’s really important that a tutor is well aware of what’s going on at all times. A good perceptive tutor will listen carefully to a student and know exactly when to deliver his or her expertise. Also, if a student is having a difficult time, a good perceptive tutor will pick up on the difficulty and steer the session in another direction.

So look for these three qualities in a tutor, and I guarantee you will love your tutor. I’ll talk to you soon.
