In this blog I discuss the best timelines for preparing for the ISEE and SSAT exams, which are commonly required for private and independent school admissions. I outline three preparation scenarios: the ideal year-ahead approach, a summer-start option for last-minute decisions, and a less optimal but still workable late-summer start. Emphasizing the importance of early baseline testing and tailored strategy development, I recommend starting prep as early as possible—ideally a year before the exam or at least in early summer—to ensure students have sufficient time to build foundational skills, especially in vocabulary, math, and reading comprehension.
