Alexis of Prepped and Polished talks about getting better focused by making technology free a priority when beginning to study for the SAT or ACT test.

It’s really hard to stay focused and get ready to get into the mindset to prepare for the SAT, let alone actually do the studying. Getting to sit down and buckle down in a quiet environment is my plan to get you focused so you can just do a good job.

The bottom line is you have to make technology free a priority. So, this is how you do it for kids who get easily distracted.

1. Find a quiet place

The first thing you have to do to get into the mindset is work and find a quiet area of your house, so that’s the first thing you do. Find a quiet area to work in or go to a library.

2. Turn off your phones

The second thing you do is just don’t silence your phones; turn them off. Firstly, you tell your buddies that you will get back to them; it is SAT prep time, so nothing is left hanging. Your friends won’t be, you know, harassing you. Moreover, they’ll respect your time.

3. Ditch the music

You’re not going to listen to music on SAT test day. So, get used to working in silence.
