In your college admissions journey, which path are you really following: your own or someone else’s? That’s what’s causing all the anxiety.
Everybody’s trying to be somebody they’re not; trying to look over the shoulder. If their next-door neighbors are applying to five Ivy League schools, well then I have to apply to Ivy League schools. I have to play three instruments and you don’t have to play three instruments.
5 things parents worry about the most with college admissions
- College is expensive: Colleges tuition has risen quite a bit over the years and it’s causing stress
- Competition: Everybody is anxious because it’s so competitive to get into most colleges with the flux of applicants applying for colleges.
- Child’s happiness: A lot of families worry if their kid is going to be happy at the college he or she decides to go to.
- Child’s safety: Many students will live away from their families, and their parents won’t be able to watch over them. So they worry about their child’s safety.
- Child’s post college future: The fifth thing that parents worry about most with college admissions is their child’s financially stability after college.
