On Episode 257 of the Prepped and Polished Podcast, Aaron discusses how students can improve their ACT Science score. He breaks down the different sections of the test, and also how best to approach them.

Now, in terms of the ACT science section, one of the things I see a lot of students encounter throughout the test is the interpretation of graphs, figures, and tables. Looking at the six passages of the science section test, you are going to have two passages that are data representation, three passages that are experiments, and one passage that is at conflicting viewpoints type passage. Based on those six, five of them typically will have some form of graph, table, or figure for analysis. The conflicting viewpoints passage occasionally will also have one, but the priority here is going to be the other five passages.

But the important thing here is when you’re looking at the science section as a whole, they’re going to be a significant number of questions focusing just solely on the graphs, tables, and charts. So if a student is prepared for that and wants to work on improving a significant number of questions on the science section, or even if it’s a small amount, it’s good to pay attention to, how many questions are we getting wrong that’s based on just interpretation of the data, straight interpretation, and then how much is based on an inference or assumption or extrapolation of the data in the tables, charts and graphs?
