Applying for college is an arduous task. So, make sure you have a strong college portfolio. Here are 5 tips to make sure that you have a good college portfolio

Tip #1

Have a well-written college application essay, so have an essay that’s not only well-written but also an essay that reflects who you are as a person.

Tip #2

Make sure that you have extracurricular activities on your college portfolio. It’s okay to delve deep into one activity, like if you play
a sport for four years, but it’s also good to try different types of activities, some academic clubs and sports. It shows that you’re a multi-faceted person to colleges to try a variety of extracurricular activities.

Tip #3

Make sure you have volunteer experiences. Volunteer experiences show that you care and that you give back to the community, and it’s better to do a year of volunteer work, say at a hospital or helping the homeless, and to a one-day stint at a soup kitchen.

Tip #4

Make sure you have a strong ACT or SAT score. I recommend that you take both tests to increase your probability of doing well and at least one of those tests. If you’re applying for very competitive colleges, take some SAT Subject Tests.

Tip #5

Make sure that you have solid grades and challenge yourself during high school. Take some AP and honors classes. Just make sure that you’re going to get at least a C or better in an AP class; otherwise, drop down a level.

So make sure that you have these five things on your college portfolio, and I’m sure colleges will love to have you.

I’ll talk to you soon.
