Episode 21 Chris Herren, Crusader for Drug-Free Teens

Alexis Avila talks to Chris Herren, Former NBA Basketball player Speaker, and Founder of The Herren Project. Chris played for both the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics, before drug addiction forced him out of the NBA. After a heroin overdose, Chris did 9 months of recovery, and eventually bounced back and started a movement to empower over a half a million kids and keep them off drugs. Chris tells his unbelievable story in his autobiography Basketball Junkie: A Memoir, then in 2011 started The Herren Project, which provides assistance in taking the first steps toward recovery and a life of sobriety, educational programs, and resources to increase awareness on the signs of addiction and bring hope for a better tomorrow.
