Gerald Chertavian is a social entrepreneur, author, founder, and CEO of Year Up. Year Up is an intensive one-year Education and Training Program serving low-income young adults ages 18 to 24. Gerald graduated from Bowdoin College and Harvard Business School, where he earned his MBA with honors.
A Wall Street veteran and entrepreneur, Gerald started Year Up, a one-year on-the-job training boot camp for the nation’s most disadvantaged youth. Gerald Chartavian’s book Year Up: how a Pioneering Program Teaches Young Adults Real Skills for Real Jobs with Real Success discusses the journey that took him to Europe and his experiences within the organization as well as the journeys of several European students. It made the bestseller list of the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today shortly after its release in July 2012.
