Alexis Avila Founder/President of Prepped & Polished discusses Three Myths about Big Colleges.

Myth 1. Big Colleges don’t have small class sizes.
Myth 2. Big Colleges have an out of control party scene.
Myth 3. You won’t meet anyone at a Big College.

Now, I get a lot of parents who come up to me looking for help with college, and they say I want to rule out big colleges because of XY and Z. Now I went to a big college, in case you didn’t realize, Michigan, and I’m going to give you three myths about big colleges.

Myth #1

Big colleges don’t have small class sizes. That’s not true. You can find big lecture halls full of students at big colleges, but you can very well find small class sizes at big colleges. It just depends on what you’re studying. Big colleges offer a lot of classes, a big variety in all different kinds of class sizes.

Myth#2

The party scene at big colleges is out of control. That’s not true. Now, in big colleges, you’ll find a lot of parties, but you’ll also find a lot of activities to do that are non-party related. It’s a big school, there’s something for everyone, that’s the point.

Myth #3

You, your son or daughter won’t be able to meet anybody at a big school, there are just too many students. Look, that’s not true. A big school’s greatest asset is there’s wide diversity of students. You’re going to meet people that you’ll associate yourself with, and you’ll find your niche in a big school, I guarantee you.

So, those are three myths about big colleges, and I’ll talk to you soon.
